Visiting Speaker: T. Kira Madden
On February 16th, author T Kira Madden hosted a conversation and Q&A with Professor Annie Liontas’ Creative Nonfiction writing workshop class. Her debut memoir Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls was a New York Times Editor’s Choice selection and finalist for the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize. Student April Mihalovich created an alternate cover for the memoir and said of her design: “I took a lot of inspiration from interviews that TK Madden has done and some of the themes of the book. She has always said that she’s not a super bright color, glitz-and-glam person stylistically so I thought to incorporate the black-and-gold color scheme to reflect some of the darker and more powerful tones of the piece. I also opted for the notebook paper and fun collage-style layout to bring the youthful feel of the piece into the cover!
