Professor Faye Moskowitz to Lecture at the GW Alumni House

Professor Faye Moskowitz

LUNCHTIME LECTURE

Patchwork Quilts and the Jewish Concept of the Kapore

GW ALUMNI HOUSE, 1918 F STREET, NW

Wednesday, September 17, 12 PM

Faye Moskowitz, a professor in GW’s English Department, will discuss and read from her essay “And the Bridge is Love.” Moskowitz uses an antique patchwork quilt to illustrate the Jewish concept of the kapore, in which a lost or broken object takes the place of harm that might come to a human. She will bring several quilts to accompany her reading. This half-hour lecture, followed by informal discussion and light refreshments, is part of a series that connects GW faculty, students, and the public in the spring and fall semesters. Co-sponsored by the GW Program Board, a student organization providing the GW community with diverse and engaging programs. Free; no reservations required.
